Cable Audit Associates Signs Up LIN Television For Retransmission Consent Services Solution
CAA’s Newest Services Package Provides Contract Management and Auditing Services for Broadcasters
Cable Audit Associates (CAA) has secured a multi-year agreement with LIN Television Corporation (“LIN TV”) to provide a comprehensive subscriber and contract compliance audit program for the management of the broadcaster’s retransmission consent agreements. The agreement with LIN TV, which owns and/or operates 29 television stations in 17 U.S. markets, marks a major milestone for Cable Audit Associates’ new retransmission consent services business. CAA has been working with cable television programming networks on validating and managing their license agreements with cable and satellite operators for more than 20 years.
“Fair market retransmission agreements with cable, telephone and satellite companies have become commonplace for LIN TV and other broadcasters,” said Gregory M. Schmidt, LIN TV’s Executive Vice President Digital Media. “As a leader in providing auditing and account management services for television networks, Cable Audit Associates is in a great position to assist us in meeting the accounting and financial reporting requirements for this significant source of new revenue.”
“LIN TV has been among the country’s top leaders in forging cash-based retransmission agreements and we are looking forward to helping both LIN TV’s stations and their multichannel video programming distributors address the accounting requirements associated with these transactions,” stated Bruce Lazarus CEO of Cable Audit Associates. “This is new territory for broadcast station operators, and there are a number of considerations that need to factor into their contract negotiations and managing this new revenue stream in order to ensure that they fully optimize this opportunity.”
Beginning with assistance in contract management, Cable Audit Associates will provide broadcasters with a comprehensive audit program and ongoing financial management of their retransmission consent agreements. More information about these services is contained on the attached brochure.
